28 April 2014 - Clima Bom, Brazil

It's that time of the week again!! And we're all so excited we just can't help it. Elder Frogley had only a moment to share this week, but what a power-packed paragraph! Great stuff. Also, Dad shared this talk (here) from Elder Featherstone that you all should read. Now. Like, right this second. I'll wait...

...Great, OK, here's the e-mail from Elder Frogley.

I try to read the talk tomorrow cause today im short on time! the Districts great! I have to other missionaries in the district but its pretty much the same as being senior trainor. Just instead of one Junior i have 3. We had a baptisim last week! severinho made it until the baptisim. Easiest baptisim i ever had! We taught him everything in four visits, then let him fend for himself until the baptisim and he made it. He wanted to be baptised so bad, it was awesome. When the LZ di my interview, they had me do one of theres. Which was my first interview as a LD. It was cool! She was insane but it was chill. We started teaching a bunch of new investigators and we have some promising stuff but nothing for this week as of yet. Ive noticed that as ive tried to change my self to handle my new responsibility ive also gotten a lot better in my teaching! Its cool. We teach really well now. It also helps that I do most the teaching cause my comps new. gota go! i got my Birthday pres already! Thanks! Ill try to send pics next week! Also i got my call from the secretary asking which airport i want to go to in the US. I should be getting my ticket in a little bit! Ill let yall know!
Love you!

21 April 2014 - Clima Bom, Brazil

So we have the transfer update! But I'm sure you saw that in the header. I think it means "good climate," but isn't that all of Brazil? Anyway, the time is rapidly approaching when we will welcome Elder Frogley back into our midst, and he will be reporting back to a new stake presidency because Mom and Dad are moving to Layton. Hope that goes well--still trying to sell the old house.

Anyway...

I cant believe that i only have 6 months left. Im waiting for my plane ticket to come anyday now. haha, weird. But thats crazy about the other stake! I haddent thought about that! Will i give my homecoming talk in Providence or there? And dont i have to be released by Pres. Hill? Ah, well. Itll sort it self out. But crazy stuff happened this week!!!
First off transfers. I went to Farol on Tuesday to get my area and my comp. Im the new DL in Clima Bom. Its like 5 min from my last area. Im actually in my old area right now visiting with my old comp who im living with now. Haha, its super chill! Im with a new american now. hes been here for 3 months and just finished his training. His name is Elder Steven, and cool. Kinda quiet, but cool. Being district leader is cool. I do pretty much the same thing, but now i have to do interviews for baptisims and i have to do more paper work. So thats fun. But the area is way cool! Its all flat for one thing. Which was a welcome change. its a bigger area but there are tons of people here ready for baptisim. In our first week we marked 6 baptisim for the next two weeks. And almost all of them were references from members. We got a reference from the other elders for a man who wants to be baptised now. Like right now! The first time we visited him he told us that hed talked with the bishop and asked for a baptism prep class cause he wanted to be baptised as quickly as possible. He believes EVERYTHING we tell him. Hes very smart and knows a lot about the bible. Hes been to several different churches but said that the Church of Jesus Christ is the only one hes ever wanted to be baptised in. He reads everything we give him, he already keeps all the comandments, and didnt even ask why he couldnt drink coffee or tea. He also stopped drinking Coke just cause he thought it would be better. Hes already a steak pres pretty much, all he needs to do is be baptised. We marked 3 o clock with him one time, but we were late and got there at 4 and he was infront of his house sleeping and waiting for us. Just the most prepared guy ive ever met in my life. Super cool.
We also met a women, also a reference, we wanted to be taught because shes dating a return missionary from Sao Paulo. she loved the lessons and shes really honest with us. The second time we visited her she started crying out of no where and told us that she didnt know if she should be dating the return missionary because he was in the middle of a devorce but not devorced yet. Shes really good and will be baptised next week.
Also were teaching a young lady who likes the church a lot but is waiting for an answer to prayer still. In her church they only pray with veils, which suprised me. They called in the true form of prayer. but shes really smart and still reads EVERYTHING we give her. She was a reference from a guy in another ward. He wants her to be baptised so he can date her. Sneaky punk, but ill go with it. Haha, life is good here! Its started to rain a ton, wich is exactly how i like it! My mission pres is about to leave the mission so were prepping for his departure. Also the world cup is coming up. Its getting crazy already, im soooo excited! Itll be so fun here! Haha, for Easter here, ya know how they celebrated? There were a ton of fireworks all night and a guy got shot while we were eating lunch at a members house! Maceio is crazy. Anyway, love yall!

A long time ago, from a country far, far away...

Hi folks,

So because of various issues with e-mail accounts and such, these pictures are coming to us really late--like, nine months late. Sorry about that. We have some delicious looking pizza rolls and a baptism of... somebody...

14 April 2014 - Estancia, Brasil

Elder Frogley's words have proven prophetic--he is indeed getting transferred, and I suppose we'll find out where next time. This week we get to learn about some wonderful miracles that have blessed Elder Frogley's life and the lives of those the Lord has put in his path. All things happen in the Lord's way and in the Lord's time!

Hello family!! This week was excelent! This was the last week in the transfer and we were pretty sure that id be transfered, so it was getting tough to work. Tuesday we did a devision with the LD to help us work to the end, but we didnt have any baptisims marked for saturday, so we were focusing more on making new investigators. But we hsd some great blessings! We were walking down the street durring the devision and the son of one of our x investivators called us to visit his mom again. I thought, why not. I dont know if yall remember her but we taught her when I first got in the area, she accepted baptism and everything. She said she hsd a drea that she was baptised, but she just gave up because she didnt feel the desire to be baptised. We walked in three months later, hadnt talked to her once, and started talking about baptism again. She said that shed be baptised, on saturday! We didnt have to teach her or anything, she just said yes! We visited her everyday last week, and she msde it to the baptism and she was baptised! Its amazing what a little time does! The lord just needed to work with her a little. With our other investigators, weve marked several weddings and my comp will do great work, because I was indeed transfered. Its time for me to leave my trainee to work for himself. Hes gonna do awesome but im sad to leave the area. The next area could be my last, its weird to think the end is near. Any way, thats pretty much my whole week! So I got a question for dad, I was thinking, I speak portuguese, and I remember one time you said you know the medical director of the olympics and I was wondering if it would be possible to get his email or talk to him. I think it would be amazing to work in the Olympics as a translator or something. Anyway,  love ya fam, ill send pics of my new area and the baptism next week!

7 April 2014 - Estancia, Brasil

Well hello! So nice to see you again. We had a brief break because I get these e-mails forwarded from Dad, and my parents and youngest brother were on a Caribbean cruise the week before General Conference and didn't have access to internet or cell service. So, here you go!

Hello family! WE HAD had a fat storm the other day and it knocked out most of the internet in the city.lightning struck right outside our house. It was kinda fun cause its been a long time. This week was kinda slow. Were goin to try to write to everyone another day. Right now im on a tablet of some members.  But as far as conference goes, my favorite talk was durring priesthood sesion from elder oalks I believe, about the priesthood. About women and their roll in the priesthood. The only downside is pres made us all watch it in portuguese. And the interpreters have really borring voices. So that was tough. We finally marked the times and dates for the weddings and baptisms that weve been working on. Jose e socorro wont be baptised until the 24th of may. So I womt be here to see, which is sad but we were pumped to have a firm date for them. We also got several references from members. We startex teaching the bishops father in law. The bishop and his wife thought he would reject us for sure. Hes pretty old and a little senile. But we tought him and challenged him to be baptised in the 19th. He said if thats what his wife wants hed do it. Better then a no I guess. We had one investigator who made the trip out to cconference. Its tough here. You have to get on a half hour buss ride through the blazzing heat to get to the stake center. We were impressed to se her there. She wants to bebaptised a lot but her boyfriends rough with the whole thing. I dont know why, theyve been living tovether for like 21 years and have several married kids. But thats how it goes here. Im going to be a mairrage expert when I get home in 7 months. Today we had a bbq here to have a partg before the transfer. Its almost certain that ill be leaving. I wont see any of my investigators baptised which makes it hard. But it was lame because today wasnone of those days wwhere everything just doesnt want to work out. Missing ingridients, closed stores, late trains, burnt rice, super salty meat. On the up side a missionary got a package full of american stuff which was amazing! and that reminds me, thanks much for the egg nog and chrstmas cards. They finally arrived! But if yall wana send me something at this point, it probably wont bet to me on time. Were almost done! Im starting to try to figure out what to do when I get home with work and school. Ill figure it out later. Send some pics of the trip! Love yall!
